Resort hotel in Zakynthos: A blend of minimalism and local architecture

Located on the stunning shores of Zakynthos Island, this resort hotel offers an unparalleled experience of luxury and tranquility. Inspired by the local architectural, the resort blends seamlessly with the island’s landscape, providing guests with a sophisticated retreat. The architectural vision behind this project embraces a minimalist aesthetic, with every detail thoughtfully considered to create a serene, harmonious atmosphere.

Architectural design

The design of the resort hotel draws from Zakynthos’ local architecture, incorporating iconic elements that reflect the island’s rich history. One of the most distinctive features is the use of arches throughout the communal spaces, a characteristic feature in Mediterranean architecture. These arches not only serve as striking visual elements but also play a functional role in the design, allowing natural light and sea breezes to flow through the space. This creates an open, airy ambiance that enhances the sense of connection between the indoor and outdoor environments.

The overall aesthetic is minimalist, characterized by clean lines, neutral tones, and natural materials such as stone and wood, which reflect the island’s natural landscape. This approach allows the architecture to complement rather than compete with the stunning views of the Ionian Sea.

Integration of indoor and outdoor spaces

A defining feature of the resort is the seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, particularly in the sea-facing suites. These luxurious accommodations have been designed to invite the natural beauty of the island inside. The expansive glass windows, frame uninterrupted views of the sea. The open-plan layout further blurs the line between interior and exterior, allowing guests to feel fully immersed in the tranquil surroundings. Private terraces and plunge pools enhance this connection to the outdoors. The choice of materials, including locally sourced stone, ensures that the suites blend naturally with the landscape. The interiors are designed with understated elegance. Neutral color palettes, sleek furnishings, and organic textures that reflect the island’s natural beauty.

Communal spaces

The communal areas of the resort foster a sense of community while maintaining the overall sense of tranquility. The use of arches as a key architectural feature in these spaces creates a sense of continuity throughout the resort. They link different areas and reinforce the connection between the interior and exterior environments. Moreover, they serve as conduits for light and air, enhancing the open, airy feel of the spaces. The landscape has been carefully planned to reflect the natural beauty of Zakynthos. Native plants and trees used to create lush, green spaces.

A sanctuary of serenity and comfort

The design creates a resort that is both luxurious and peaceful. From the sea-facing suites that offer a front-row seat to the Ionian Sea’s natural beauty to the communal spaces, every aspect of the resort enhances the guest experience. This architectural project successfully marries minimalist design with local heritage, creating a unique and immersive environment. The result is a resort that not only provides a tranquil retreat but also serves as a testament to the beauty and resilience of the island’s architecture, landscape, and culture.
