Residential Complex in Penteli
Perched on a hill, in the picturesque mountain range of Penteli, the residential complex follows the natural slope of the hillside and becomes one with the terrain, offering an immersive living experience that balances privacy, communal spaces, and open vistas. The design of the residential complex is firmly rooted in the distinctive morphology of the Penteli slopes, embracing the landscape’s natural contours. Instead of imposing upon the hillside, the structure adapts to it, creating an architectural narrative that is as much about nature as it is about the built environment.
The complex develops in three floors, designed to maximize both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The foundation of the building features a robust, stone-clad base that is symbolic of its connection to the earth. Above the stone base, the structure transitions into the upper building volume, which accommodates two “twin” two-storey residences. These units are characterized by their unique plastered finish in an earthy texture and shade. This color palette visually blends the upper floors with the surrounding landscape.
Architectural Form: Prismatic Geometry and Functional Elegance
One of the defining features of this residential complex is its prismatic geometric form. Α design choice that serves both aesthetic and practical purposes for the residences. The facades incorporate angular lines and carefully crafted geometric shapes that establish a distinctive architectural character. Moreover, these prismatic forms are not arbitrary. They ensure privacy between the individual residences. They also provide a visual “frame” for specific viewpoints and orientations.
The geometry of the structure directs attention toward special vistas, allowing residents to enjoy uninterrupted views of the mountainous landscape. The prismatic design effectively captures and frames natural scenes. Each window and balcony turns into a portal for experiencing the surrounding beauty. At the same time, the positioning of these forms enhances privacy with each residence enjoying both seclusion and open views.
A Balance of Secluded and Shared Spaces
Privacy is a crucial element in the design of any residential complex. Ιn this project, there is a careful balance between privacy and communal interaction. The prismatic geometries of the facades are deliberately oriented to minimize direct sightlines between properties. Τhis ensures that each residence maintains a sense of individuality. Despite this emphasis on privacy, the layout of the complex also fosters a sense of community through shared outdoor spaces. A key feature of the outdoor area is the communal swimming pool. Located on a plateau at the back of the plot, it provides a central space for social interaction and a visual anchor for the complex.
Orientation and Views: Architecture as a Frame for the Landscape
The orientation of the residences within the complex makes the most of the site’s natural attributes. Large windows and balconies capture the best views. The residences enjoy sweeping panoramas of the mountain range as well as more intimate glimpses of the lush vegetation. The design aims to create a continuous dialogue between the interior and exterior spaces. The result is that every room enjoys natural light and has a visual connection to the outdoors. The prismatic forms of the building serve as more than just a privacy mechanism; they function as frames for specific viewpoints.
This residential complex in the Penteli mountain range exemplifies our architectural vision of creating spaces that are both functional and deeply connected to their natural surroundings. By thoughtfully integrating the building with the landscape, utilizing materials that reflect the local environment, and employing prismatic geometries that offer both privacy and breathtaking views, the result is a living space that resonates with the tranquility and beauty of Penteli.
